
Well, 10 forms, to be exact (and to keep the kids from yelling at you for not knowing your cartoons). A wristwatch-like device called the Omnitrix enables him to transform into several different alien forms. It's pretty obvious that Ben is a kid who has been given some special technology that's enabled him to become a superhero. There are a few voice snippets from some boss characters, but again, these will be repeated throughout the fight so much that it blends in with the laser, gun, or punching sound effects.īen 10 Alien Force: Vilgax Attacks drops you into the world of Ben 10 assuming that you already know the basic story, but you won't have to worry too much about getting lost if you're new to it.

Even when the game manages to produce more than a primitive electronic beat, the name of the game is still repetition. The repetitious beats might bring you back to the days of NES at times. The background music is just as old-school as the format of this game. During actual gameplay, however, you'll only be playing as Ben in all his forms. Between levels, you're treated to some static portraits of the characters in the series as they act out the story during cut scenes.

It is nice that the designers put so much variation in size and didn't try to squeeze "Humungousaur" into the same sprite size as Ben himself. The different alien forms you take are interesting, and all are very distinct, though some of them are so small that they are hard to make out. It's a 2D side-scroller with some fairly decent art with a bit of a hand-drawn feel to it.

Combat uses a combo based attack system focused on grand special attacks which take out several enemies at a time. The action takes place on the home worlds of Ben's alien forms as players platform their way through the lava pits of Vulpin and break their way through the temples of Terradino. Players are able to transform into eight alien forms to battle their way through Vilgax's minions and solve various puzzles along the way. Vilgax is once again attempting to invade earth, and Ben is the only hero who can stand in his way of Vilgax's newly discovered Null Void cannon. Players take on the role of Ben Tennyson from the television series Ben 10: Alien Force.
